Pirate picked up a carton of sweet potato bisque for me the last time he was at TJ's. It's okay, but a little bland. It responded nicely to being jazzed up a bit with some spicing, though: take a teaspoon or so of oil on medium-high heat and add 1/2 tsp black mustard seed. When done popping, add 1/2 tsp urad dal, 1/4 tsp cumin, and 1/8 tsp hing. Cook until dal and cumin darken a few shades. Add 1 cup sweet potato bisque and reduce heat to low. Simmer a few minutes to blend the flavors, then add the juice of 1/2 lime. Serve with plenty of freshly-ground black pepper.
