The monkey and I stopped at Everett & Jones on the way home to pick up dinner. We walked home through the warehouse district singing "Vote for Hope" and "Respondele a Obama" and "Si Se Puede Cambiar". Now we're eating barbecue that tastes all the better for having been obtained during E&J's election night Obama party and repeatedly hitting refresh on a number of tabs.

Later we're having sweet potato pie for good luck.

Yes we can. I'm almost beginning to let myself believe it.

McCain just conceded about 28 minutes ago. Even Indiana is leaning, just barely, towards Obama. This is a state that went for Bush 60/40 in 2004.

I don't like Obama nearly as much as I dislike McCain (and I dislike Palin so much that I can barely say how much without sputtering incoherently), but when I was born a black person couldn't vote in a large part of this country. Now a black man is going to be president, and I, for one, am over the moon.

I just heard that McCain gave his concession speech, but, I did not see it. So, I do not know. But, oh gods, please, I think we can.

I want to cry!
I really want to hope. and, if he DOES win, (our man) please, don't let him fuck it up. It would break my heart.

OMG!!! HE DID win! 338 electoral votes! I can't say how happy I am.
