There were never any "good old days" — they are today, they are tomorrow
A Christmas-season triumph

I managed to make it through the entire Christmas season this year without once hearing either The Waitresses' "Wrapping Paper", "We Are the World", or Band-Aid's "Do They Know It's Christmas?"

Wow, I hardly ever hear the first two. (although, damn you, now I can hear the second one in my mind.. aargh!)

By dint of avoiding all shopping areas I managed not to hear a single Christmas song until the 24th, when I happened into a sandwich shop playing them. And until the day of, when the demonic spawn I call "neighbour boy" started shrieking out carols off-key. All things considered, a much better year than most.

For your own internal memory joy, I'll give you the gift of knowing neighbour boy shrieked out "Here Comes Santa Claus". ;-)

The monkey kept pushing for SomaFM's "Xmas in Frisko" stream, but I thought the "Wrapping Paper" odds would not be in my favor.

Now, see, if it hadn't been for "Christmas Wrapping" (ya got the name wrong) and "Father Christmas" by the Kinks, I would have had a hard time believing it was Christmas at all - precisely because I didn't get to hear Band-Aid this year. (I finally got my Bing & Bowie fix last night.)
27th-Dec-2008 08:06 pm (UTC) - Congrats!
I never heard Feliz Navidad..

and am very pleased with that.
