The other morning I was up early doing my Egoscue exercises and listening to a bird with a very monotonous call. Cheeeep! Cheeeep! Cheeeep! Cheeeep!
"Sheesh," I thought, "that robin is getting annoying. I wish the finches would wake up and start singing. Lazy slugabeds."
And then it struck me: finches are seed-eaters. They don't care if the early bird gets the worm — they don't want it, so they might as well stay cozily tucked into the nest until the sun comes up!
