Lexi in the woods

In brief...

...maybe not quite the soul of wit, but in the neighborhood:
  • 11:46 Feeling really squicked by the sight of a 6-year-old in high(ish) heels. #
  • 13:26 Hoo! The coconut chutney at Viks is SPICY today. *fans self* #
  • 15:36 Looking at a hand-painted message on the back of a multi-colored van in Berkeley: MORE FUN! LESS STUFF! #
  • 20:06 As much as I love daylight savings time, it is a little disorienting. Ten to eight? Gee, maybe I should go start dinner... #

nice to be able to cook again

In the aftermath of my foot injury, I really missed cooking. It's been satisfying to get back in the kitchen again.

Dinner tonight was leftover dal, tortillas (since I haven't yet tried making chapatis), and pattypan thiyal, a Keralan dish of zucchini cooked with onions, coconut, and tamarind. Very tasty, although as usual I had to boost the tamarind by about 4x from what the recipe called for.

The recipe's definitely a keeper, although only when the monkey isn't around — as far as he's concerned, tamarind is pure evil. (As opposed to pickles, which are cucumbers soaked in evil.)
