There were never any "good old days" — they are today, they are tomorrow
you want to live in East Oakland, you know you do

today's subliminal thought is
The neighbors in the apartment at the end of the hall seem to have moved out — when Pirate & I walked past their door, there were workers tearing out the carpet and preparing to paint. I can't say I'll mind having them gone, as they were very inconsiderate about noise levels (they played their stereo loudly enough that we could hear it in our apartment, across the hall and two doors down, with both doors closed) and were also the ones who almost burned the building down a couple of months ago.

So it's vacant (as are a couple of other apartments in the building), and I'm thinking hey, maybe someone's looking for a new place. If you move in, spiritualmonkey and I are just across the hall, and strawberrytabby is three doors down. We'll fill the building with interesting, intelligent people (who know better than to put a frying pan on high and then leave the room). It'll be great.

But if you start humming the theme from Friends, I'll have to smack you.

I'm unlikely to move, as the thought of sorting through everything has shivers of pain running through me. And, well, rent control. But I'm curious, just as a data point: what approximate price is the landlady asking for, and what square footage?

If I could actually practice in California, I'd be tempted. Sadly, no can do.
