free iced coffee coupon - Starbucks something for nothing
24th-Aug-2006 03:40 pm
tropical paradise in a cup
Stick it to Starbucks A co-worker emailed me a coupon for free iced coffee at Starbucks between now and September 30 — just download this PDF from megaupload.com; print out the coupon, stop by your neighborhood Starbucks Coffee between noon and 9 pm, and give it to the barista to recieve a complimentary iced grande beverage. (One per person per visit with email.)

Go drive down their profit margin, k?

But.. but.. then I would have to go to a Starbucks! I'm sure there is some sort of field of corruption inside the stores. It must be a trap.

Be like the lotus, which remains spotless and untouched though surrounded by mud and muck...

Yeah, I don't think I'll actually use one of the coupons myself, but I'm glad to distribute them as widely as possible. *evil grin*

Garf. Damn you! I broke my streak of never getting anything at Starbucks and used the coupon once. Their coffee is truly vile. After the first sip, I thought about finding some homeless person and just giving them the coffee.

Oh, and when I was there, they said that it wasn't any iced grande beverage, just coffee. They allowed other purchases today, but claim that from now on it's just coffee.

That wouldn't work for me. I can only get mochas (iced or otherwise) because I need something to disguise the overroasted coffee flavor.

It's been so long since I've drunk Starbucks coffee that I don't really remember what it tasted like... but Peet's char-broiled coffee, now, that I definitely agree is way overroasted. I don't order coffee when we go to our favorite weekend breakfast place, as they serve Peet's Major Dickason's Blend and I think you might as well just put a charcoal briquette in your cup.

The Peet's Fair Trade blend is pretty good, though.

I'm the other way around. I adore Peet's, and Major Dick's and Fair Trade are my favorite blends. (Some I don't like much. Their organic doesn't do much for me.) I can drink Peet's straight, no flavoring, just a little cream (if I'm making it at home) or a lot of cream (if I buy a cup at Peet's). They manage to make it dark-roasted without getting bitter.

Good luck finding light roasts these days. I tried the independent Mojo's (two years ago, before they were bought out), and the owner flat out told me that everyone was demanding bold, bitter, dark roasts. He did have a few medium ones. But if you put nothing in your coffee, bitter is just nasty -- and it's hard to dark roast without some bitterness creeping in.

(which breakfast place do you like? just curious, I've written off a lot of them over the years...)
