There were never any "good old days" — they are today, they are tomorrow

The logistical details are that Walter Koenig will be the best man and Nichelle Nichols will be the matron of honor, but I particularly liked this part of the story:
Takei hopes the ceremony will be more romantic than his proposal.

He explains, "We knew that the Supreme Court was going to be coming down with their ruling. (We'd heard) that it was probably going to be positive. So I was planning on asking Brad to get married.

"We were at home in the kitchen and we had the TV going, and when the word came down suddenly Brad got on his knees in front of me. And I said, 'What are you doing?' He said, 'George, will you marry me?' I said 'Yes. You beat me to it. I meant to ask you.'"
Awww... *snif*

yay! Honestly, 4 years ago, I felt somewhat annoyed, and guilty that I was able to marry Cypher becuase he is a man, (and, I am a woman...) and, it irked me mightily that had I wanted to marry my former lover of a 6 year relationship, I could not have. Feh.
This is the bestest newes... and hurray for George!

Jon Carroll had a column recently about how if you think about it, same-sex couples wanting to get married is about the most conservative position you can think of. "We want marriage! and stability! and families! and to be with each other in the old age home! and to have grandkids!" Ooh, yeah, that's radical... not.

I was going to give the blurb about how Jon Carroll is fantastic and considered by many to be the best unsyndicated columnist in America, but then I realized of course you know who he is. *grin*

I sure do, and I sure miss him... one more thing in a long list starting with ShiMo's on Clement, and certainly not ending with Farmer Joe's, the Maritime Museum, and Arizmendi's...

Hmmm,, should look into seeing if I can get the Chron out here, not sure that would help, or make me crazy with what is playing at the Park!
