When you live in the flatlands of Oakland, there's no need to go anywhere to watch fireworks. Just go out on the back landing — the neighbors will provide an impressive light show, plus more than a few *BOOM*s loud enough to set off the car alarms.

There's also no point in even trying to go to sleep before midnight. *yawn*

Been there.... whoa. Tho, the Midvale house was much better than the Grace Ave @ Stanford & San Pablo.

This year, I am out in the Boonies of west texas, at Cypher's aunt's ranch, setting off morters and gawd knows what...

I sware, Lexi! Talk about "all 'Merikan!'
There are kids, dogs, puppies, fireworks, hotdogs, red and blue jello w/(white)Coolwhip, softball playing, swimming in the water tank, cattle lowing, tall-tale-telling in a west texas drawl, t-shirts with red, white and blue sequins, and three kids piled on the atv and screaming with laughter and fright as they roared about the pastures.
I feel like I am in a Chevrolet commercial...
I have been in conversations ranging from how to train Texas Lacy dogs to hunt boar, to how to smoke brisket, to how to tan deerhide.
I woke to rifle shots in the back pasture as the kids were out having fun shooting targets at 7 am.
This is NOT Oakland!
Well... except for the waking up to gunshots part...
