There were never any "good old days" — they are today, they are tomorrow
So that's where that quote comes from!

food, Bascove peaches
There's been a quote that I've liked ever since I saw it in someone's sigline on eGullet, but I never knew where it came from. Recently, Barbara of the blog Tigers & Strawberries quoted it in a post, including the source. Yay!

For the foodies in the house:
Tomatoes and oregano make it Italian; wine and tarragon make it French. Sour cream makes it Russian; lemon and cinnamon make it Greek. Soy sauce makes it Chinese; garlic makes it good.
– Alice May Brock, in the Alice's Restaurant Cookbook
And yes, she's that Alice.

Glad to have helped you find the source of that wonderful quote!

My favorite part is, "Garlic makes it good."

Words to live by.
